I've always loved wearing shorts (hot pants mostly), see through fabrics, lace, ripped tights and bright coloured lipsticks. I've never thought of it as somehow provocative and 'slutty'. But most people do. The catcalling men, the offended elderly, the staring men, the laughing tweenies, the men. And I can tell you one thing - if I were ever raped, I know they'd say it was my fault because of the way I dress. I'd be asking for it.
And I say - FUCK OFF. It's never the victim's fault. NEVER, okay? How come men get to take off their t-shirts in public and girls can't even wear short clothes on a hot summer day without being judged / treated like sex objects, not human beings? Why are woman bodies so over-sexualized? The sad part is that the feminist movement has been there for such a long time yet this is still happening. And no, don't try to tell anyone you're a feminist, 'cause only 'ugly fat dykes' are, right?
In reaction to this I made this Hole inspired tee. I know it won't change anything but maybe it will raise a bit of awareness and questions about this topic.
